Eldar Namazov believed in Ilham Aliyev?
Baku / 20.02.18 / Turan: Public association "Victims of deportation" headed by political scientist Eldar Namazov, former assistant of Heydar Aliyev, unexpectedly announced his support for Ilham Aliyev in extraordinary elections on to be held April 11, members of this structure announced on February 19 at their event at the International Press Center, dedicated to the deportation of Azerbaijanis from Armenia.
Firidun Jalilov, who was vice-premier and minister of education in the Popular Front government in 1993, called on all to support the candidacy of Ilham Aliyev in the April 11 elections.
Eldar Namazov's position was less categorical, but reflected the veiled support to Ilham Aliyev. In an interview with Turan, he said that "the results of the upcoming elections are clear, there will be no changes, and Ilham Aliyev will remain president." "I am more concerned with the processes after the elections - reforms, how will they go, what steps will be taken in the Karabakh settlement?", he said.
It should be noted that the organization "Victims of deportation" is a subtle and inactive structure, established several years ago. As for Namazov, in 1993-99 he headed the secretariat of Heydar Aliyev and resigned amid rumors about his readiness to sign the defeatist peace with Armenia.
Subsequently, he established a public forum "For the sake of Azerbaijan", founded the Movement El, was one of the initiators of the creation of the National Council of Democratic and nomination of nominee Rustam Ibrahimbekov for the post of Azerbaijani president in the 2013 elections. Later, Namazov departed from the National Council, but did not take a pro-government position. -02B-
