Freedom House Again Includes Azerbaijan in List of Not Free Countries
Washington / 16.01.18 / Turan: The international human rights organization Freedom House based in Washington D.C. has published its traditional report The Index of Freedom in the World - 2018.
The document indicates that democracy is being attacked on a global scale and continues to retreat around the world.
Russia and China not only increase repression, but also spread their negative influence on other countries. Autocratic regimes, in order to protect themselves, seek to suppress democracy even in remote countries, persecute dissidents, and undermine world institutions.
Of the 196 countries and territories in the world, 88 are recognized as free, 58 as partly free, and others as not free.
Azerbaijan among 49 countries has fallen into the category of "not free". Azerbaijan"s neighbors, Armenia and Georgia, have been included in the category of partially free countries.
The Nagorno-Karabakh region under the Armenian occupation is also referred to this category. -16D-
