Mammadyarov Discusses Azerbaijan-EU Relations with Mogherini
Baku / 23.09.16 / Turan: In the framework of participation in the UN General Assembly, the Foreign Minister of Azerbaijan, Elmar Mammadyarov, met in New York with the EU High Representative for Foreign Affairs and Security, Federica Mogherini.
As the press service of the Foreign Ministry said, during the meeting they discussed the current state and prospects of development of Azerbaijan's relations with the EU.
‘The two sides expressed readiness for the early commencement of negotiations on raising the partnership between Azerbaijan and the EU to a new level, and noted the existence of wide potential for the development of cooperation in the fields of energy, transport and agriculture,’ the statement says.
Referring to the Karabakh conflict, Mammadyarov said Azerbaijan stands for substantive negotiations to resolve the problem.
Mogherini expressed support of the territorial integrity, sovereignty and independence of Azerbaijan by the EU and expressed support for a peaceful settlement of the conflict. -16D06-
