Mazahir Panahov Announces Preliminary Results of Referendum
Baku / 27.09.16 / Turan: Last night the head of the Central Election Commission Mazahir Panahov released the preliminary results of voting at the referendum on constitutional amendments.
According to him, the referendum in Azerbaijan was voted by 69.7% of the voters, that is 3,671,707 people.
After treatment of 72.7 percent of the ballot papers it has become clear that 29 points of the Referendum Act were supported by 83 to 91-plus percent of the voters.
In particular, 91.2% of the voters were for increasing the term of the President's office to 7 years.
88.3% of the voters were for the elimination of the age limit for the election of MPs, while 91% were for the elimination of the age limit for the election of the President.
The amendment giving the President the right to dissolve Parliament was voted by 87.4% of the voters. -06B--
