New demonstrators clash with police in Turkey

This past evening and night, protesters clashed with police in various cities of Turkey, which resumed after Prime Minister Erdogan's speech on television. He said he did not intend to change the plans of cutting down the park in Istanbul's Taksim district.

In addition, he said that the Ataturk Center located there will be demolished, and a mosque and an opera will be built in its place. He also said that he would not yield to pressure of a "presumptuous bunch of hooligans."

During the televised interview, Erdogan criticized the social networks and in particular Twitter, calling it a "social disaster" that spreads misinformation and promotes unrest.

According to representatives of Azerbaijani Diaspora in Istanbul, the country's public took this performance as a challenge and thousands of people again took to the streets of the cities.

During the clashes in Ankara, police first used live ammunition against demonstrators.  One person was wounded, said Radio Liberty.

In Istanbul arrived more than fifty buses with protesters from other cities of Turkey to join the protests of opposition parties. More than thirty thousand people marched from the European to the Asian side of the city. The demonstrators demanded the resignation of Erdogan.

In Izmir, more than fifteen thousand people took to the streets, throwing stones at offices of the ruling party and demanding the resignation of the prime minister.

According to Turkish media reports, during the clashes there are many injured and victims of violence. The total number of prisoners exceeded one thousand.

According to local experts, Erdogan has faced the most serious challenge for all the time of his rule and is in panic. This explains his inappropriate statements and actions that only complicate his own position.

According to local observers, the wave of protests in the country will increase, and the fate of the Erdogan government will depend on how the army behaves.

However, it is no secret that most hatred for Erdogan in Turkey is expressed by the military and, above all, generals. -02B-
