Nikol Pashinyan
Pashinyan acknowledged the abandonment of the base of negotiations on Karabakh that had been developed over the years, and does not want to liberate the regions around it
Baku / 14.10.20 / Turan: Armenia refused to negotiate, ignoring the right of Karabakh to self-determination. Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan stated this on Tuesday during his address to the people.
"In previous years, the negotiation process on Karabakh reached the point where, in fact, the Armenian people were required to give up their own rights," he said.
Baku demanded to surrender 5 out of 7 regions, submit a schedule for the surrender of the remaining two regions and fix that any status of Karabakh should be a part of Azerbaijan.
When Armenia tried to explain that a settlement was impossible without a clear status of Karabakh, Azerbaijan rejected any serious discussion.
"Our government, which inherited this negotiating base, refused to discuss the issue in this form, considering it unacceptable," he added.
There should be no "Munich agreements" on Karabakh. International forces and organizations do not react to what is happening, believing that the formula "territory in exchange for peace" is acceptable.
This is very similar to the Munich Agreement of 1938, when, supposedly for peace, the territories of Czechoslovakia were transferred to Germany. Everyone knows what happened after that, he added.
He stressed that Azerbaijan denies any right of the Armenians of Nagorno-Karabakh to control their destiny. -02D-
