Nikol Pashinyan and Vladimir Putin.
Pashinyan Discusses Fate of Lachin with Putin
Baku / 27.11.20 /Turan: On November 26, Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan held two telephone conversations with Russian President Vladimir Putin for an hour. As Pashinyan himself wrote on his Facebook page: “The discussion centered on issues related to the settlements of the Lachin corridor, the search operations of the bodies of the dead and missing, the exchange of prisoners, the placement and delimitation of peacekeepers' zones, as well as the unblocking of transport communications in the region.”
“Such discussions take place regularly, sometimes several times a day. We do not always disseminate information about these discussions, given their working nature and frequency,” Pashinyan wrote.
However, the Kremlin's website says nothing about this.
Let us remind that Lachin must be released by the Armenian side on December 1. However, more and more often the Armenians are raising the question that it is about the liberation of the region, and not the regional center (the city of Lachin) itself. At the same time, it is alleged that the Armenian police will remain in the regional center of Lachin, and will protect public order there. However, the trilateral agreement on November 10 said nothing of the kind.
As for the settlements of the Lachin corridor, most of them are Azerbaijani and the indigenous people should return there. After the occupation in 1992, all of them were settled by Armenians, and now the question arises of returning the Azerbaijani population there.
With regard to the peacekeepers, the Armenian side is constantly trying to expand the zone of their presence and authority. In particular, Armenians try to place them near all Christian and historical sites, claiming that Azerbaijanis want to destroy them. The Armenians are also trying to prevent the Azerbaijani authorities and scientists from entering these sites, realizing that their claims regarding the so-called “Armenian origin” of the sites will be refuted. -02D-
