Presidents of Azerbaijan and Kyrgyzstan ignore CIS summit
On Wednesday, following the one-day summit of the CIS in Ashgabat, 20 documents were signed, RIAN reports. In particular, the declaration of the heads of CIS countries on the further development of comprehensive cooperation was signed.
The meeting participants also signed an agreement on cooperation in the organization of an integrated currency market of the Commonwealth.
The meeting decided to form a Council of the Heads of CIS Financial Intelligence. The leaders also signed an agreement on cooperation in training anti-terrorist units in the educational institutions of the competent authorities of the countries of the Commonwealth. In addition, an agreement on cooperation in the logistics of the competent authorities involved in combating terrorism and other violent manifestations of extremism, was signed.
Following the meeting, promising directions of the united air defense system of the CIS were adopted. A decision on implementation in 2013 an inter-state program "Cultural Capital of the Commonwealth" in Azerbaijan, Armenia and Belarus was signed. The leaders also signed a decision on the chairmanship in the CIS and holding next meeting of the Council of Heads of State of the Commonwealth.
At the meeting in Ashgabat the decision to prepare for the celebration of the 70th anniversary of the Victory in the Great Patriotic War, and the activities of the CIS Inter-Parliamentary Assembly to strengthen the integration interaction, were signed.
The heads of states signed a plan of action to implement the protocol on approval provisions on the organization of interaction of borders and other agencies of the CIS countries to assist in the liquidations of crisis situations in the external borders on October 5, 2007.
The meeting adopted a decision on the head of the CIS Anti-Terrorism Center.
The heads of states decided to declare 2013 the Year of environmental culture and the environmental protection in the CIS. Belarus, which on 1 January 2013 will receive from Turkmenistan the chairmanship of the Commonwealth of Independent States (CIS), intends to focus on the problems of ecology and environmental protection, said in Ashgabat the president of Belarus, Alexander Lukashenko.
Presidents of Azerbaijan and Kyrgyzstan have ignored the CIS summit, referring to the domestic issues. Azerbaijan was represented at the summit by the Prime Minister, Artur Rasizade, and Kyrgyzstan was represented by the First Deputy Premier, Djoomart Otorbayev.-0-
