Ilgar Mammadov
REAL Requires Early Parliamentary Elections
Baku / 05.09.18 / Turan: The Chairman of the REAL party, Ilgar Mammadov, released from prison last month, demands early parliamentary elections. On the Facebook page, he explains the need for early elections with the fact that the existing parliament does not represent the interests of the people, and the presidential elections in April 2018 were "the worst performance. The assessments of international observers were more negative than in previous elections. "
If Ilham Aliyev adopts the principle of political equilibrium as a way of governing the state and does not want even greater tension in the socio-political situation, he must agree to early elections to the Milli Majlis. But these elections should not be a way to replace pocket deputies belonging to an oligarch by the same pocket deputies from another oligarch, Mammadov writes.
Early elections are necessary to ensure that the Milli Majlis in a new composition can represent the people's wishes for the executive power and, having found a common political language with the false presidential power, carried out a peaceful transition to democracy," explained the chairman of REAL.
Ilgar Mammadov was provisionally released on August 13, 2018 as a result of the decisions of the Strasbourg Court of Human Rights and the Sheki Court of Appeal, having been sentenced to 7 years of imprisonment in 2013 on charges of inciting mass disobedience actions in the town of Ismayilli.
In April 2018, early presidential elections were held in Azerbaijan, following which Ilham Aliyev was declared the President for the fourth time. -0-
