Russia to Supply Iskandar Missiles to Armenia?
Yerevan / 02.07.15 / Turan- ArmInfo: As part of a soft loan of $ 200 million, Russia will supply Armenia with cutting-edge tactical missile systems Iskandar M. This was reported today by the newspaper Zhamanak, citing a source close to the ruling Republican Party of Armenia. Armenian Defense Ministry neither confirmed nor denied this information.
Note that the complex Iskandar-M is a medium-range missile system (from 280 to 500 km). The height of the missile’s flight is 6-50 km. The missile has radar absorbing coating and falls on the target at a speed of 700-800 m / s at an angle of 90 degrees, which makes it extremely difficult to intercept it by air defense systems.
In addition, the rocket is equipped with complex electronic warfare for the disruption of enemy air defenses.
Iskandar-M is designed to hit targets deep in the enemy forces and can be a means of delivery of tactical nuclear weapons.
The most likely targets are missile systems, multiple launch rocket systems, long-range artillery, air defense, aircraft and helicopters airfields, command posts and communications nodes, and most important civilian infrastructure.
In theory, these missiles could reach targets throughout the territory of Azerbaijan, including Absheron. -02D-
