Russian Prime Minister on the Karabakh settlement
Yerevan hosted a meeting of President Serzh Sargsyan with the Russian Prime Minister Dmitry Medvedev, who arrived in Armenia to participate in the regular meeting of the Eurasian Intergovernmental Council. The sides touched upon the Karabakh issue. Sargsyan said that at the talks in Vienna agreed on continuous monitoring and implementation of the mechanism to investigate ceasefire violations. "For our part we will do everything in order to avoid these violations, and we hope that the foreign ministers of the OSCE Minsk Group will consistently implement the decisions that we have taken together," he said. In turn, Medvedev said his last visit came at a difficult period. "I hasten to say that we in Russia are still very hard watching the developments, as much as helped to resolve the situation. It is important that the state of armistice, which was achieved, was maintained. In this context, we welcome your meeting, which took place in Vienna with the President of Azerbaijan, as well as the efforts of the Minsk Group, have been taken in order to maintain a dialogue, to continue the dialogue, and to avoid this kind of incidents in the future, bearing in mind respect for the agreements that have historically been achieved in 1994-95, and, of course, move towards a more durable peace in the region and the achievement of a final settlement of the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict," said Russian Prime Minister. Medvedev also said that Russia has always helped and will help in resolving this complex conflict. -02D-
