The reaction in Azerbaijan to the murder of Suleymani
Baku / 04.01.19 / Turan: The destruction by the US military of Kassem Suleymani, the commander of the elite Iranian “Goods” special forces Corps of the Islamic Revolutionary Guard caused a different reaction in Azerbaijan.
Representatives of Shiite Islamic groups mourn over the General. Videos about Suleymani, mourning chants are distributed on Facebook and Whatsapp, posts of condolences and hopes of revenge on enemies are published.
The head of the Center for the Protection of Religious Rights and Religious Freedom, Ilgar Ibrahimoglu, writes on his facebook page that Suleymani has become a martyr and expresses deep condolences to the entire Islamic ummah.
“We declare with great conviction that this pure martyr’s blood will further consolidate the Islamic ummah and lead to the defeat of the enemy, inshaAllah.”, Ibrahimoglu wrote.
At the same time, liberal-minded users recall that Abu Mahdi al-Muhandis, deputy head of the Shiite militia, destroyed along with Suleymani, previously accused Azerbaijan of collaborating with Israel to bombard pro-Iranian forces in Iraq and Syria.
Many social media users disagree with those who mourn Suleymani. Expert Nazaket Mammadova addresses those who mourn Suleymani with the question: “Was Suleymani a martyr in Karabakh? If Azerbaijan starts a war, then the first country to provide assistance to Armenia and hit us in the back will be Iran,” Mammadova wrote on her facebook page.
Iran is by no means preoccupied with protecting Islam. In fact, in the Middle East, there is a struggle between Iran and the United States over spheres of influence.
Against the backdrop of discussions on social networks on the Internet, official Baku has not yet expressed any reaction. The head of the Caucasus Muslims Office, Sheikh-ul-Islam Allahshukur Pashazade, is also silent. –06D-
