The Supreme Court rejects the appeal of Jamil Hasanli
Azerbaijan's Supreme Court dismissed the presidential candidate of the National Council of Democratic Forces (NCDF) Jamil Hasanli, Turan was told in court by Hafiz Hasanov, the Head of the "Rights and Development" Center, representing Hasanli.
Despite more than 3,100 acts of violations on violations in more than 2,400 polling stations, video and photos proving the cases of violations, hundreds of forged ballot papers stamped in favor of Ilham Aliyev, the Supreme Court, just like the Baku Appeals Court and the Central Election Commission, refused to consider the evidence.
"This is a big setback compared to the previous elections. The CEC and the courts simply refuse to consider the complaints," said Hasanov. Thus , they violated the right to an effective remedy guaranteed by the European Convention on Human Rights.
However, the results of the presidential election can not be challenged in the European Court . However, Hasanli can file a complaint with the UN Committee on Human Rights. —06C-
