At a meeting in Luxembourg foreign ministers of 28 EU countries reaffirmed their commitment to deepen cooperation with the countries of the "Eastern Partnership " - Armenia, Azerbaijan , Georgia, Moldova , Ukraine and Belarus, said Catherine Ashton, at the meeting of the High Commissioner for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy.
"We make every effort that the coming Vilnius summit of "Eastern Partnership" to be held in November be a success. We will strengthen our cooperation with the Eastern partners, on the one-way and on a group basis ," she said after the meeting.
Ashton expressed her confidence that the Vilnius summit will open a "new chapter" in relations with members of the "Eastern Partnership." She also said that the ministers reviewed the performance of official Kiev with EU requirements, which led to the signing the Association Agreement with Ukraine.
"We know quite clear what we need to do, and that we should move forward. I hope that in Vilnius we can celebrate what has been done, and will continue to promote the relationship," said Ashton.
Russia hampers the rapprochement of EU with the countries of the "Eastern Partnership." Moscow has forced Armenia to declare joining the Customs Union , and puts pressure on Moldova and Ukraine not to sign an association agreement with the European Union. -02D-
