The Turkish Press Writes About Extortion by the Tax Service of Azerbaijan
The Turkish Dünyabülteni.net site published an article about corruption in Azerbaijan. In particular, extortion in the tax service of the country.
The article reports that Turkish businesspeople working in Azerbaijan complained about the tax office. Entrepreneurs start their own business, and then representatives of Fazil Mammadov (Minister of Taxes) come and extort large sums of money.
Extortion amounts range from 10,000 to 30,000 manat in cash. After paying the money for extortion, entrepreneurs are then obligated to pay official taxes, which have increased by 15-20%.
Turkish and local businesspeople compare tax officers to extortionists and racketeers who have imposed taxes as mafia, and do not allow businesses to work properly. Those who refuse to pay are threatened with criminal prosecution. -05D-
