Visit of the European "Troika": Bulgaria wants to TANAP

The foreign ministers of Bulgaria and Sweden, Nikolai Mladenov and Carl Bildt, and the head of the Presidential Administration of Poland, Yanchek Michalowski on a joint mission to Azerbaijan, held a press conference today.

The purpose of the mission was to discuss further cooperation between the EU and Azerbaijan in the "Eastern Partnership" framework. In talks with the President and the Foreign Minister of Azerbaijan, the Karabakh settlement was discussed, along with the topics of regional cooperation, energy issues, and the Baku-Tbilisi-Kars project.

Michalowski noted the important geopolitical location of Azerbaijan, being adjacent to Iran and Syria, and its proximity to Afghanistan. Azerbaijan is of great importance for Europe and also as an alternative source of energy supply, he said.

The Bulgarian minister noted his country's interest in the TANAP project and its European extensions in terms of the supply of Azerbaijani gas to the country. -06D-
