"We defend Ukraine single-handedly": Zelensky appealed to Ukrainians and Russians
Baku/25.02.22/Turan: Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky has said that Russia is launching missile strikes on peaceful Ukrainian cities for the second day in a row.
He said this in his video address.
According to the president, according to UNİAN, the Russians do not distinguish at which targets to act. Therefore, residential houses, not only military facilities, are also hit.
"The purpose of this attack is pressure. Pressure on you, dear citizens. Pressure on our entire society. I emphasize: not just the authorities, but all Ukrainians. And today even more than yesterday. Our guys and girls, all the defenders of Ukraine did not allow the enemy to implement the operational plan of the invasion on the first day", - Zelensky said.
The president stressed that the enemy had been stopped in most directions, battles were being fought. Zelenskyy noted that air defence systems were protecting the sky, but the enemy aviation was sneakily operating over residential areas, particularly in Kiev.
Zelensky said the attack was reminiscent of the attack on Kiev in 1941.
"We are defending our state alone. The most powerful forces in the world are watching from afar. Has Russia been persuaded by yesterday's sanctions? We hear in our skies and we hear on our soil that it is not enough," Zelensky said.
The president stressed that only the solidarity of Ukrainians can protect our freedom. According to him, the military are fulfilling their tasks to the maximum. At the same time, the head of state urged all Ukrainians to mobilize and help each other and the army.
"The destiny of Ukrainians depends only on us. No one else but us will lead our lives. We are in our own land, the truth is behind us. It will not be possible to destroy our character. Calibre missiles are helpless against our freedom," he said.
Zelensky stressed that Russia will still have to talk to us about how to end hostilities and stop this invasion.
"The sooner the conversation starts, the less will be the losses for Russia itself," Zelensky said.
The President also addressed the Russians.
"Dear citizens of the Russian Federation, as I said, tonight they started bombing residential areas of the hero city of Kiev. This is all reminiscent of 1941. All citizens who are coming out to protest: we see you. It means you can hear us. It means that you begin to believe us. Fight for us, fight against the war", - said Zelensky.
