Why Official Baku Does Not Celebrate September 15?
Leaders and members of the Public Chamber on September 15 visited the Alley of Martyrs on the occasion of the 94th anniversary of the liberation of Baku from enemy forces and laid flowers at the memorial to Turkish soldiers-liberators.
September 15, 1918 the Turkish troops of the Caucasian Islamic Army liberated Baku from the armed forces of the Government of the SR, Mensheviks and Armenian ARF- Dictatorship of Central Caspian. Because of this, security was provided to the Azerbaijani population, and the government of the Azerbaijan Democratic Republic (ADP, 1918-20) moved to Baku.
Speaking at the ceremony, PFPA leader Ali Kerimli said attempts to separate Baku from the rest of Azerbaijan and subordinate it to Russia were arranged in the first years of Soviet power.
Liberation of Baku was made possible by the political course of the ADP management and dedication of the Turkish military.
Kerimli criticized the neglect of this event by the current authorities and regarded it as jealousy of the authorities to the ideological legacy of Mamed Emin Rasulzadeh and Elchibey.
"Coming here, we are fulfilling our duty of loyalty and reverence for the memory of the fallen heroes for the freedom of Azerbaijan," said Kerimli.
The leader of Musavat Isa Gambar said that already on the agenda of international relations there is the question of "divided Azerbaijan."
Gambar also expressed the opinion that the day will come when the Alley of Martyrs will be visited on the liberation of the occupied territories.
Turkish soldiers, who fell during the liberation of Baku, created an indestructible monument of Azerbaijani-Turkish brotherhood.
Today, the memorial to Turkish soldiers was visited by representatives of the Azerbaijani and Turkish youth. Activists of the Public Chamber and the young people greeted each other with shouts of "Martyrs are immortal, Motherland is indivisible!" -05C06-
