Zh.Mone: you should introduce yourself to the world not only by events
France will not remain indifferent to the fate of the arrested activists in Azerbaijan, and these issues are constantly raised in the course of political contacts between the two leaders, stated the French Ambassador Pascal Monnier in Baku, answering the question of what is the attitude of Paris to the problem of political prisoners in Azerbaijan, and in particular the arrest of the Chevalier of the Order of the Legion of Honor of human rights activist Leyla Yunus and journalist Khadija Ismailova, whose birthday is celebrated today.
"Approximately a year ago these people (Yunus and Ismayilova) were among the guests at this Embassy for a meeting with French President Francois Hollande," the ambassador told journalists on May 27. According to him, in direct talks at a high level the French side will raise these issues, and believes that it is more efficient than public statements.
"Azerbaijan is implementing various activities and wants to attract attention. I believe that this is done in order to improve the country's image. Those who want to attract attention, has to try to be better in all respects. I believe that the government hears our friendly remarks," said the ambassador.
He expressed optimism about the fact that at today's solemn reception on the occasion of the Republic Day, President Aliyev said that Azerbaijan is devoted to its obligations in the field of democracy. -06D—
