The main problem of education in Azerbaijan can be considered a salary, said ex-minister of education Firuddin Jalilov on the occasion of Teacher's Day in an interview with radio "Voice of America". While the teachers expect additional compensation for their work from the students and their parents , one should not expect the normal teaching. In addition, the teacher should not work with students after lessons in order to earn extra money.
"At the time we made steps to change this situation for the better. In particular, teachers exempted from payment for utilities. Then an amendments was made in the legislation that teachers' salaries should be equal to the salary of highly paid bureaucrats," said the ex-minister.
According to him, it is necessary to create in the country at least one educational television, where will speak eminent teachers, and give classes on various subjects. Regarding school textbooks, Jalilov called them "unsuitable." "What to say about them if the textbooks contain not-normative words?"
