Accident at Mingachevir Thermal Power Plant De-energized Most of Azerbaijan at Night
Baku / 03.07.18 / Turan: Due to the accident at Mingachevir Thermal Power Plant, which occurred around midnight, most of Azerbaijan, including the capital, and other major cities of Ganja and Sumgait were de-energized.
According to the state company Azerenerji, the reason for the termination of the supply of electricity was the failure at Mingachevir Thermal Power Plant, due to the abnormal heat of the system equipment.
By the morning the electricity supply was restored in Ganja and the surrounding areas, most of Baku, Sumgait, and the central regions of the country.
Due to interruptions in power supply, the movement of trains on the Baku subway line Bus Station -Memar Ajemi-2 was temporarily stopped. In this regard, buses were allocated for the transportation of passengers on this route.
There were delays in the schedule of train traffic on railway routes. On July 3, trains on the Baku-Sumgayit-Baku route were canceled.
Azersu reported on water supply disruptions in part of Baku on July 3 in connection with the suspension of water treatment facilities in the Kura at night. -06D--
