At the trial in the case of Omar Mammadov lawyers convicted witness for saying lie

Trial  in the case of the  Facebook  activist, a 19-year-old Omar Mammadov, accused of drug trafficking, continued in the  Baku Serious Crime Court    chaired by Eldar Mikailov. According to  the lawyer Alaif  Hasanov,  after the indictment  was read ,  two employees of the Office  to Combat Drugs  of the Ministry of Internal Affairs, Agil Aliyev  and Khayal Nasibov, as well as two witnesses Elnur Maharramov  and Jeyhun Aliyev, gave testimonies.

The police claimed that Mammadov was detained on the basis of operational information  that the young man had drugs.  However, the investigation did not specify  the origin of these drugs.

Mammadov himself said that   in the Office  to Combat Drugs  , an employee  called Alekperov stabbed him eight punches in the ribs in order to obtain confessions.

Further witnesses were heard .

When  lawyers asked Maharramov whether he was still is a witness in other cases, he replied no.

Then the defense filed court judge sentences imposed by the Baku Serious  Crimes Court, courts  of Nasimi and Narimanov districts which  note the participation of  Maharramov in these cases  as a witness. However, the judge refused to attach the document to the  case, what  according to the lawyer  Hasanov, is a flagrant violation of the law.

Mammadov said himself that during his detention there were not any witnesses, and he saw them only in the Office to Combat Drugs, where they signed some papers.  Maharramov  asked the  activist  "why he is engaged in politics , because all is well in the country ."

The trial will continue at 11:00 on May 22.

Omar Mamedov is the leader of the youth movement "Akhyn" ("Stream") and member of the "Civil Solidarity " party.  After his arrest, he returned to the NIDA Movement.

* Mammadov was active in social networks on the Internet,  and , in particular , was one of the administrators of the page "Lists of AzTV" in Facebook ((https://www.facebook.com/pazaztv?fref=ts), which housed the cartoons , collages , comments ridiculing vices  by authorities .-06B –
