Azadlig Before Closure Threat Again
The editors of the opposition newspaper Azadlig again received a letter from the management of the Azerbaijan publishing house with a warning of discontinuation of the newspaper, if it does not pay off its debts before 27 June. This is stated by the newspaper.
As of June 1, the editorial staff accumulated a debt in the amount of AZN 18,726, including AZN 17,662 for the printing of the newspaper, and 1,064 AZN for utility costs.
It should be noted that the newspaper Azadlig has been in a difficult financial situation for several years due to the fact that it could not get its money from the Gasid state-owned press distribution firm. It is more than 70 thousand manats.
The paper’s editorial board is convinced that the authorities are doing this deliberately to stifle the paper economically. -06D--
