Azadlig Newspaper Could Suspend Its Publication
The leading and most read newspaper of the country, Azadlig, is on the verge of closing, the appeal of this paper says. "The difficult financial situation calls into question the issue of the newspaper next week. The paper already cannot pay for the paper, printing and utilities. If the problems are not resolved in the shortest possible time, the publication of the newspaper will be impossible," the statement says.
The newspaper refers to the democratic public, calling the people to participate in the campaign to save the newspaper.
The reason for the difficult financial situation remains the same - the refusal of the state-run distributor company Gasid to pay the debt of 69,000 manats to the paper.
In addition, the Fund for Support of Mass Media denied the annual financial assistance to the paper. The ban on the sale of the newspaper in the subway and on the streets has even more aggravated the situation.
The aggressive campaign by the authorities against the newspaper and the denial of advertising shows the desire of the authorities to stifle the newspaper in any way.
The newspaper has repeatedly appealed to the public, asking for support, and received it. -03B04-
