Civil society activists callon President Aliyev to take personal control of the case Jafarli
The group of civil society activists of Azerbaijan has sent an appeal to President Ilham Aliyev calling to take personal control of the case of Natig Jafarli - Executive Secretary of the Movement REAL.
Bringing Natig Jafarli to the investigation on similar charges and his arrest has caused great concern, since the abolition of such accusations against civil society activists recently gave hope on the possibility of resumption of normal dialogue between government and civil society, the authors of the appeal note.
The appeal says that Natig Jafarov, one of the prominent economists of the country, who regularly appealed to the government through mass media with practical proposals to improve the current economic situation in the country. His practical recommendations were based on love for the homeland and its development.
Natig Jafarli was arrested on August 12, and arrested by the decision of the Nasimi District Court for 4 months as a suspect in the commission of acts provided by Articles 192.1 of the Criminal Code (illegal business) and 308.2 (abuse of power.)
