Mass poisoning of fish in the lake Sarysu
On 5 September there was a mass poisoning of fish in the largest lake of Azerbaijan - Sarysu. It became known from the video on Facebook showing floating dead fish on the surface of the lake.
Video was shot by unknown user of the network, which float on the lake and make videos of hundreds of dead fish, they also argue that there was a mass poisoning of water in the lake. The reason for the ecological catastrophe is not clear, the Ministry of Environment does not comment on the matter.
However, one could argue that this case is unprecedented by its scale. In addition to fish this lake is located in the central lowland area of the country, it is home to thousands of waterfowl and a popular hunting ground. If the water has been poisoned, it will inevitably have a negative impact on the population of waterfowl that chicks grow at this time of year. -02V-
