Court arrested two activists of PFPA
Baku / 21.08.18 / Turan: On August 21, the Yasamal District Court arrested two activists of the Popular Front party, Ramin Ahmedov and Bashir Tanriverdiyev, for holding an unauthorized action a day earlier. The first was arrested for 15 days, and the second for 10 days. Another activist, Nijat Abdullazade, was fined 200 manat, according to the press service of the PFPA.
The activists held a protest action in front of the Elmlyar Akademiyasi station, demanding that the arrested activists of the party be able to meet with their relatives. Four activist participated in the action, and all of them were detained by the police. Soon one of them, Ruslan Gurbanov, was released. The protest action was dedicated to the convicted activists of the PFPA: Agil Maharramov, Ruslan Nasirli and Babek Hasanov. They all were arrested this spring together with the former head of the Gadabay region and the PFPA activist, Saleh Rustamov. They were accused of illegal financing the PFPA. Military expert and regular on state television channels, Adalat Verdiyev, has been accused of a serious crime—disclosure of military secrets. According to the charge (Article 308 of the Criminal Code), if the accused can prove the disclosure was unintentional, they may face 3 to 7 years in prison. Under aggravating circumstances, the sentence could range from 4 to 8 years.
