Development and cleaning of Lake Beyuk Shor starts
The President issued a decree on the management and use of the largest lake of the Apsheron Peninsula - Beyuk Shor on the outskirts of Baku (the Sabunchu and Binagadi districts).
The Ministry of Economy and Industry is tasked to ensure the restoration of the lake, to eliminate industrial and domestic waste, to manage it in the future and to oversee its preservation.
The Open Joint Stock Company Azersu, the State Oil Company and the Baku Mayor's Office are instructed to prevent discharge of sewage into the lake.
The Cabinet of Ministers is instructed to clarify the buffer zone of the lake and to provide funding for the work in a month, while the Ministry of Environment is requested to submit all the documentation on the lake to the Ministry of Economy.
The decree does not say how much money and from what sources will be allocated for this purpose. The duration is unclear too.
Recall that at the December 23 meeting at the City Hall dedicated to the development plans of Baku, Ilham Aliyev said that there is a plan to divide Boyuk Shor into two pieces and lay a bridge over it in the middle. The total area of the lake is 1,000 hectares and the creation of a vast recreation area is expected. - 02B -
