As a result of yesterday's earthquake in the Balakan region, numerous buildings suffered: residential and administrative buildings have damage and cracks. According to the regional correspondent of Turan, at least 30% of the buildings suffered. Despite the absence of large-scale destruction, the roofs of many houses sagged and cracked. Hundreds of houses in the settlement Gabagchel (includes 5 villages), Talalar, Halatala, Chebrovtala and Poshtbina suffered. In the village Halatala, two persons suffered and one died of a heart attack.
Currently, representatives of MOE and local authorities distribute tents to people and make lists of the affected buildings. The earthquake caused damage to the district center Balakan, too.
"People do not know what to do. On Sunday, there were several tremors. People left their homes, but there are no temporary shelters. The population does not know what to do," said one of the residents. Another resident said that the district authorities are not able to help all the victims. Recall that the strength of yesterday's tremors was 6-7, according to unofficial sources. However, the official announcement of the power of the shocks and their effects has not yet been released. -03B06-
