Elgiz Gahraman: I was arrested for four words
Activist of NIDA Movement, Elgiz Gahraman, has been sentenced today to 5.5 years of imprisonment ; in the final statement he said that the lawsuit against him was fabricated. The so-called "witnesses" of his detention he sees only the Main Directorate for Combating Organized Crime (MDCO) of the Interior Ministry. The next day, after being detained three people came to his home and "seized" book which they themselves planted. One of the book was in the Russianlanguage, but the activist said that he did not speak Russian. Referring to the interrogations in the MDCO, the activist reported that police beat him in the lower abdomen. In the office of the chief of department the MDCO Kerim Alimardanov there were the Koran, and truncheons. Gahraman was not allowed to the Court of Appeal, which considered his complaint for the arrest. "I was accused of drug trafficking, but why, then, I was not caught red-handed while selling drugs? I am a teacher of logic. When I was arrested they learned my password in the "Facebook" and began to read the posts and the census," said the activist. He questioned whether I studied in Turkey, and if I believe in God ? After that, they decided that I was a supporter of Gulen. "Then they realized that this accusation was absurd, and changed it to drugs trafficking. I was arrested for four words consisting of 14 letters. I asked the police why they arrested me, he said you're innocent, but a dangerous man. My arrest is politically motivated, biased and illegal. So please acquit me," he said in conclusion. On Facebook Gahraman commented ironically about the comparisons of Ilham Aliyev’s son with Shah Ismail. -36C06-
