Former Political prisoners condemned the arrest H.Ismaylova

Public Alliance "Azerbaijan without political prisoners" issued a statement condemning the arrest of journalist and researcher Khadija Ismailova. The authors of the statement regard it as a revenge of power, the logical culmination of the persecution of the journalist.  For a long time he power in various ways  is trying to neutralize her  activity.  She is accused of treason and the dissemination of state secrets  and  pro-Armenian. Despite all this, Ismailova continued  her investigation, despite the blackmail and threats of the authorities. Khadija Ismayilova  is known and loved not only in the country, but also abroad. A series of articles titled "Corruption in Azerbaijan", exposing the secret business  of Ilham Aliyev and his family caused a major stir. These articles are written in a serious danger, have been awarded international prizes, and have led to reprisals against the author of these materials.

In his radio program "Azadlig"  she raised urgent questions, demonstrated an objective position to socio-political processes in the country. Major themes of its investigations are rigged elections, corruption, human rights violations of fundamental freedoms, the pressure on civil society, the problem of political prisoners, unfair judgments.

Ismailova is also an active blogger and has always demonstrated active citizenship. So, she was involved in the drafting of a single list of political prisoners in Azerbaijan.  She has also actively  participated  in the local and international conferences, where raised urgent questions about the situation in Azerbaijan.

Ismailova also provided financial assistance to political prisoners and their families. Realizing their  criminal scenario, the authorities arrested her on absurd and ridiculous charges.

Public Alliance “Azerbaijan without political prisoners” demands the immediate and unconditional release of all political prisoners, arrested on trumped-up charges, as well as the termination of repression against civil society activists, reads the statement. -04D-
