Fuad Ahmadliis allowed to meet with family
On 28 October the activist of the Popular Front Party of Azerbaijan (PFPA) Fuad Ahmadli kept in the Kurdakhani prison was allowed to meet with members of his family for the first time after his arrest in August of this year, according to his lawyer Asabali Mustafayev. Ban on meeting with family was imposed by the investigating body. The lawyer considered that decision is unjustified and appealed against it. Mustafayev expressed hope that the unjustified prosecution of Ahmadli also soon will be terminated, and he will be released. On 19 August the State Service Security and General Prosecutor's Office issued a joint statement in connection with the case of Ahmadli accusing him of distributing personal data of subscribers of "Azerfon" mobile communication company that is regarded as violation of the law on operational and investigative activities and abuse of office. According to law enforcement, in the apartment of Ahmadli was found a religious literature prohibited by legislation and CD-disks, leaflets with speech of Fetullaha Gulen. On August 23, law enforcement authorities stated the unification of the case of Ahmadli with the case of another activist of PPFA Faig Amirov, also accused of collaboration with the Gulen organization. The PFPA rejected these accusations and called them fabricated for political motives.-06D-
