In the evening of August 3 the head of state went to London on a working visit - this is the official information. However, even the day before from unofficial sources, it became known, Ilham Aliyev is extremely dissatisfied with performances of Azerbaijani athletes and intends to return to London not so much in order to personally monitor their performance, but to deal with the Minister of Sports, the head of the NOC and the heads of federations on the causes of failures of the athletes.
Note that until now the representatives of Azerbaijan have shown a very low level of physical and moral preparation for such an important competition as the Olympics.
Plus, in the boxing tournament there was a scandal, and the representative of Azerbaijan Aghajan Abiyev was suspended from competition for violating the code of conduct. This happened after the boxer from Azerbaijan Abdulgamidov was disqualified and forfeited.
Note that a significant part of the team is made up by legionaries from other countries. So long a single bronze medal of Azerbaijan has been brought by a Bulgarian athlete. -02B-

On December 25, an Embraer 190 passenger plane operated by Azerbaijan Airlines CJSC (AZAL), on a Baku–Grozny flight, crashed near the city of Aktau in Kazakhstan. Azerbaijan’s Consul General in Aktau, Ayxan Suleymanlı, stated that the plane had 67 people onboard, including crew members, 38 of whom died. According to him, 26 of the deceased were Azerbaijani citizens.
