Kidney disease becomes « younger» in Azerbaijan
Today in Azerbaijan there are more than 100 patients waiting for kidney transplants, said Shahlar Nasirov, the chief of the department for kidney transplants of the Republican Urology Hospital. Speaking on Wednesday at an event dedicated to diseases of the kidneys, he said, that kidney disease has become “younger.” This hospital conducts 1200 surgical operations per year. Last year, 500 transactions were made for children. In total for the year to the Department of Pediatric Urology turned over 2,100 patients.
In turn, the chief of department of hemodialysis Fariz Babayev said that kidney disease are congenital and acquired. Congenital diseases are inherited.
In the country the number of patients with complications of kidney disease is close to 10.000. Of these, 3,100 are diagnosed with kidney failure are involved in hemodialysis. Among them are six children under the age of 15 years, the youngest - 6 years, Babayev said. Over 4,000 people appeal to the urological clinic hospital a year, and about 1,000 of them are prescribed to treatment.
In the past three years 49 patients were transplanted with kidneys from living donors.
Currently, in Azerbaijan the number of patients with transplanted kidney is 732 people, the government has committed itself to ensure their medications. -36C-

Today, on September 26, a meeting is expected in New York between the foreign ministers of Azerbaijan and Armenia regarding peace negotiations.
