Lamia Guliyeva: In my case revenge is to blame
Lamia Guliyeva, convicted of murder and freed today in the courtroom said in the Court of Appeal, that she faced in prison a great injustice. She went to prison at the age of 15, and was constantly subjected to pressure. She asked the public to forgive her for the birth of a child in custody.
"When my term in prison was increased, I thought, who do I live for? My youth passed in prison. Except my mother, all the relatives turned away from me. Another woman in my place would have committed suicide. I decided to fight, give birth to a child, and attract the attention of society. It was the only way out, and I'm not a prostitute," said Guliyeva sobbing.
When I learned that a lawsuit was filed against me in prison, I went to the head of jail. What have I done, why did they convict me? However, I was taken to the chamber. In apunishment cell I lived as a dog," said Guliyeva.
Referring to murder she committed she said it was not her choice. "Life is forced to take this step. I was a teenager. Those who took revenge on me, who passed unjust sentences are guilty," Guliyev said.
The victim Aysel Agaev, the guard of the prison, according to whom Guliyeva was repeatedly condemned, abandoned her complaint (according to the investigation, Guliyeva threw a hot kettle in her.)
However, her representative Sujeddin Hajibalaev unfounded the protest of prosecutors. "If the prosecution was so compassionate and fair, why did not she previously defend in the courts this accusation?" he said.
As a result, the court reduced the sentence of Guliyeva, freeing it from the rest of imprisonment and freed her in the courtroom. "I will not complain about the media organs, spread lies about me and Aslan Aslanov. May Allah punish them," Guliyevs said reporters.
She expressed the hope that the court will consider again the case of her ex-fiancé Vugar Aliyev, who was convicted for life. His lawyer Adem Mammadov said that re-investigation has already begun, and Aliyev will also be released.
* Lamia Guliyeva in 2003 was sentenced to 10 years in prison for the murder of the son of the former chief executive of Shamkir region, Aslan Aslanov. Real term of imprisonment ended in 2013. However, in 2012 a new sentence was ruled - imprisonment for five years and six months under Article 317.2 (violation of the order of penal institutions.) Thus, the general term of Guliyeva was 15 and a half years.
Consideration of the appeal was held on appeal because of the prosecutor's office due to sentencing Guliyeva to "excessively severe punishment." However, in the past, the prosecutor's office has initiated a re-sentence against Guliyeva, when she was in prison. -03В-
