Media Review June 13, 2019

The development of infrastructure in the agrarian region, the purchase of wagons from Belarus by CJSC Azerbaijani Railways, and the situation in Azerbaijani football are the topics of today's media.

The newspaper Azerbaijan writes about the infrastructure in the agrarian system, noting that by the end of the year 13 agricultural parks will be opened. The author argues that comprehensive reforms are underway in the agricultural sector. Important changes are occurring in the management, personnel training, technical and financial support of farmers.

The article also emphasizes that farmers are exempt from all types of tax, except for land tax. The state provides assistance to small and medium-sized agriculture with the help of soft loans.

The state allocated a total of 219 million manat from the state budget for the creation of agricultural parks. So far, 17 agricultural parks have been created, and for this purpose, soft loans amounting to 111 million AZN have been allocated.

The website Modern.az writes about the state of Azerbaijani football against the background of the defeat of the Azerbaijani national team in a game with Slovakia. Analyzing the current situation, MP Fazil Mustafa argues that for the revival of national football, fundamental changes are necessary, to stimulate the interest of big businessmen in this sport, as well as their care for regional teams.

The MP believes that football must be exempt from any tax. In the regions of the country it is necessary to create football schools to educate future players.

The website Yeni Sabah.az returns to the topic of the purchase in Belarus of new railroad cars purchased by the state-owned company Azerbaijan Railways in the amount of $ 15 million. Experts believe that there is evidence of corruption. The same Russia, Poland, and Georgia buy cars from Belarus at a price of $ 1.7 million, and Azerbaijan Railways bought them at $ 15.2 million. Belarus has never sold cars for such a price, experts say.
