Mehman Huseynovs Appeal to Be Considered Oct. 10
Baku / 10/05/18 / Turan: The consideration of the appeal by blogger Mehman Huseynov is scheduled for 12:30 pm on October 10 under the chairmanship of Elshad Shamayev. Turan was told by his lawyer Shahla Humbatova.
The meeting will be held in open mode.
The complaint was filed against the decision of the Garadagh district court of August 24, which refused to allow the blogger parole in connection with the completion of half of the sentence. To date, he has already served two thirds of the sentence.
* The blogger and chairman of the Institute for Reporters' Freedom and Safety Mehman Huseynov was sentenced in March 2017 to 2 years in prison on libel charges in connection with a lawsuit against him from Musa Musayev, head of the Nasimi district police department of Baku.
The reason for filing a lawsuit was Huseynov"s allegations of torture at the said institution in January last year.
However, according to human rights activists, the true cause of the persecution of Huseynov was his video reports about the luxury villas of members of the Azerbaijani government and parliament.
Amnesty International recognizes Huseynov as a "prisoner of conscience" . - 03B06-

In the last two days, a "news" story appeared on TikTok about a whale spotted on Baku's seaside boulevard. The most "observant" users posted videos, commenting on the size of the animal. Later, other "witnesses" claimed it wasn't a whale, but a shark. Even later, a version emerged suggesting it was a submarine.
