Mother of prisoner declares bringing her son to suicide
Mehriban Kerimov , a mother of the prisoner Riyad Mammadov in jail N13, appealed to President Ilham Aliyev and Prosecutor General Zakir Garalov in connection with the torture of her son in prison. The letter states that on 26 June, 2015 at the orders of the chief of the jail N13, her son was tortured by guards Ayaz and Ali. The reason for torture was that Riyad prays as Sunni, and refuses to pay the guards.
Driven to despair, the young man swallowed seven blades, and was hospitalized in very bad state. In the hospital he was made to write explanation that no one incited him to it. They told Mamedov that his mother will be threatened if he does not give the evidence they want. The young man told his mother about everything during a meeting in jail.
According to his mother, the pressure on Riyad continues, they demand not to file a complaint. Mother asks the Head of State to clarify the matter and punish the perpetrators.
