New Mass Poisoning in Cotton Field
Baku / 21.06.18 / Turan: On June 20, 25 people addressed the Yevlakh City Hospital with symptoms of nausea, vomiting, and lethargy. Turan was informed about this in the press service of the Health Insurance Agency. Two have been released home, and the remaining 23 have been placed in the therapy department, and their treatment continues.
The press service said that it was not possible to reveal the cause of the poisoning. An exact diagnosis will be made after a laboratory analysis at the Baku Toxicology Center.
According to unofficial data, those who applied to the hospital were poisoned by chemicals in the cotton field. Eight of them are children.
This is the fourth mass poisoning in the cotton fields in Azerbaijan since June 10. Then 24 people were poisoned in the Saatly district. On June 16, 14 people were poisoned in the town of Terter. On June 19, 141 people working in a cotton field in the Imishli district applied to the local hospital. At present, 10 people remain in the Imishli hospital, and their condition is satisfactory, the head doctor of the institution Jasur Pashayev said. He found it difficult to say anything about the causes of the poisoning.
"The examination center took the tests under the control of the prosecutor's office. When the results are known, they will report the cause," Pashayev said.
The authorities keep silent about the endless cases of poisoning. They prefer only to reiterate the wise policy of the authorities, who after a 30-year break decided to plant cotton, which was recognized as harmful and destructive for the agriculture of Azerbaijan back in the Soviet times. -06D--
