Works on arrangement of the village Jojuk Mardjanly, problems in the financial sphere, facts of corruption in the Armed Forces, and distrust in the banking system are the leading topics of today's press.
The newspaper Azerbaijan writes about the regeneration of the village Jojuk Mardjanly. The author notes that the village was liberated in 1994, but due to security problems, relocation of the residents there was impossible.
The village includes 395 houses and 1,428 residents, most of whom - 172 families or 635 people compactly reside in the Bilasuvar district. The author argues that now it is safe to come back to the village, since the height Lala Tepe has been cleared from the enemy. The author also recalls that, according to the presidential decree, it is first planned to build 50 houses and the most important infrastructure in the village.
The website Azadliq.info writes that under the guise of investments AZN 4 billion has been “lost”. At a meeting of the Cabinet on January 10, Ilham Aliyev said the economy was invested 11 billion 700 million US dollars last year. The State Statistics Committee report on January 24 noted the figure as 14.9 billion. The difference is obvious, making approximately 4 billion. However, this question is somehow actively silenced.
Echo has published an article about corruption in the army, which is slowly declining, according to the military expert Uzeir Jafarov. Today the problem is that those involved in corruption crimes are not subjected to the due punishment. The most severe punishment is dismissal from office.
Meanwhile, the statistics of corruption crimes in the Armed Forces of Azerbaijan last year has been announced. In 2016 the Military Prosecutor's Office completed the investigation into 117 corruption cases and 153 perpetrators were brought to justice.
Novoye Vremya again writes of the banks that operate non-transparently, cheating depositors and borrowers.
