Prosecution Continues to Crumble at AMAY Trial
On Monday the Baku Court of Grave Crimes continued the hearing against the head of the group of companies AMAY Abdulla Abdullayev and five of its employees.
The trial continued with the testimony of the victims. Five speakers said they did not have claims to Abdullayev. They stated they require receiving by the state commission of the residential house built by one of the companies of AMAY at 78/80 Ataturk Avenue, so that they could move there.
Further testimony was given by the representative of Tekhnikabank, the lawyer Ruslan Umudov, who confirmed that 34 companies included in AMAY took bank loans totaling 40 million manat. As collateral they used AMAY’s non-housing property, which was priced at twice the amount of the loans.
The bank’s representative confirmed that in 2012-13 loans were repaid in full to the bank.
The bank’s lawyer could not really explain why, in this case, they filed a complaint against AMAY.
Abdullayev himself said that the bank's representatives regularly visited his company and could monitor the situation and nothing caused their dissatisfaction or suspicion.
Abdullayev said that the cause of the pressure on his firm is illegal actions of the Attorney General, which interfered with his business.
The next hearing on the case is scheduled for April 7. -05C-
