Resident of Astara Arrested for Shooting Leopard

On October 8 an Astara resident Natig Boyukagazadeh shot a leopard in the forest near the village Sim. On October 9, he was detained by border guards while trying to sell the leopard’s skin in a neighboring village.

On the fact the prosecutor's office opened a criminal case under article 258.2.3 (hunting of protected animals). The poacher was arrested by the court decision. The investigation is underway.

Note that in the Talish forests only a few leopards have survived. Several years ago, another leopard was the victim of poachers in these places, but the culprit was never found. -03D-
