The Shirvan Court of Appeal today began consideration of the complaint of Rufat Safarov, the former investigator of Zardob Prosecutor Office, who was sentenced to 9 years in prison on charges of bribery. According to a lawyer Behruz Bayramov, at the trial the judge granted the defense motion allowing that at the trial Safarov to sit next to his lawyer. The judge also granted the request to summon as a witness the head of department of culture and tourism of Zardob region, who did not appear in the trial court. Safarov himself in his speech said that he has been arrested by the order, and does not believe in the justice of the court. "Whatever the decision of the court, I am with my people," Safarov said. The next trial is scheduled for December 22.
