The term of arrest of Rauf Mirkadyrov extended for four months
Today, Nasimi District Court of Baku has extended to four months (until September 19) the arrest term of the journalist Rauf Mirkadyrov accused of treason.
According to his lawyer Fuad Agayev, the journalist was at the hearing, and said about the illegality of the extension of his arrest, and the absurdity of the charges. Protection would appeal the court's decision.
Mirkadyrov denies the accusation, calling it absurd. He was detained in Baku on April 19, 2014 immediately after the deportation from Turkey. He was charged with treason and espionage in favor of Armenia. This accusation is built on a video obtained by the Ministry of National Security (MNS) from a man called Samvel.
According to investigators, from the video it can be seen that Mirkadyrov was communicating with the participants of the international seminar in Tbilisi, and was signing some papers.
The MNS argues that Mirkadyrov sold the Armenians the information about military installations and Azerbaijani Armed Forces. Protection considers the allegations concocted, and untrue.–16/06D-

In the last two days, a "news" story appeared on TikTok about a whale spotted on Baku's seaside boulevard. The most "observant" users posted videos, commenting on the size of the animal. Later, other "witnesses" claimed it wasn't a whale, but a shark. Even later, a version emerged suggesting it was a submarine.
