The wife of Afgan Mukhtarly declared pressure on him in the jail
Baku / 10/15/18 / Turan: Journalist Afgan Mukhtarly was placed in a punishment cell, and then he was held outside in the rain, said his wife Leila Mustafayeva. On October 7, the journalist was put in a punishment cell because he "without permission" visited the medical unit in jail. However, in fact, he did not violate the schedule, and the true reason for the punishment was his protest against provocation in connection with the PFPA activist, Mamed Ibrahim.
So, Ibrahim, who is serving a sentence in the same jail N16, was put a knife under his pillow, and then was arrested in a new criminal case two days before the end of the term of imprisonment. Outraged by such a provocation, the journalist did not hide his emotions.
After keeping the journalist in a punishment cell for several hours, he was released and forced to stand under a shower in the yard of the jail, and caught a bad cold.
At the same time, he was temporarily deprived of the right to call relatives for several days.
At the request of Turan to comment on what happened, the press service of the Prison Service said that the detention of Mukhtarly in a punishment cell and putting him in the rain did not correspond to reality.
* On May 29, 2018, the investigative journalist Afgan Mukhtarly was abducted in Tbilisi and secretly transferred to Azerbaijan, where he was arrested on charges of smuggling, illegally crossing the border and using violence against a border guard and was sentenced to 6 years in prison.
International organizations, as well as the European Parliament condemned the arrest of the journalist. Amnesty International recognized him as a "prisoner of conscience." - 05B06-
