Weather Forecasters on Unstable Weather
Baku / 13.07.19 / Turan: Since the evening of July 12 until Saturday morning, the weather in Azerbaijan was unstable, it rained with thunderstorms in some northern and western regions. In the Gadabay and Goygol districts hail fell, and in some places the westerly wind increased, the National Hydrometeorology Department of the Ministry of Environment said.
The maximum wind speed in Ganja and Naftalan reached 34 m / s, Terter - 30 m / s, Tovuz 26 m / s, and Barda 25 - m / s.
On the Apsheron peninsula and in the Apsheron sea region, the wind increased to 17-23 m / s, sometimes to 26-28 m / s. At the Neft Dashlary (Oil Rocks) oil field, the wave height reached 4.7 m.
In Goygol and Hajikend hail fell with a diameter of 15 mm, in Gadabay - 11 mm, and in Ganja it was smaller.
Weather forecasters warn that rain is expected in the evening of July 13 and on the night of the July 14 in the mountainous and foothill areas, there will be a rise in water, and there is a possibility of short-term flooding. -05D06--

A fire has erupted at the Experimental and Testing Production of the Scientific Research Institute of SOCAR (the state oil company) in the Surakhani district of Baku, the Ministry of Emergency Situations reported. "Thanks to the urgent and necessary measures taken by the Ministry of Emergency Situations, the spread of the fire to neighboring areas, including nearby residential buildings, has been prevented," the statement reads. Efforts to extinguish the fire are still ongoing.
