Well-known lawyer Isakhan Ashurov dead
On June 22, famous lawyer Isakhan Ashurov died.
He suffered from cancer and died at a clinic in the U.S., where he was treated.
As the son of the late lawyer, Kanan, told Turan, the body of the deceased will be brought home on Monday. "Father willed to be buried in the ancestral village of Fakhrali in the Bolnisi District of Georgia,” said Kanan.
57-year-old Ashurov was one of the best known and most active lawyers, who defended political activists and journalists in the country.
Ashurov came to the legal profession in the 1990s, after spending several months in prison on fabricated charges.
Ashurov was a colonel and the chief of the district police in Gazakh in June 1993 when rebel forces headed by Suret Huseynov tried to take the region under their control. However, due to Isakhan Ashurov and Isa Sadikhov, they failed. Nevertheless, the authorities accused Ashurov of abuse of power, and he was thrown into prison.
Since the beginning of the Karabakh conflict Ashurov was at the forefront of those who stood up for their country and citizens.
Ashurov enjoyed great prestige and respect thanks to his position and character. He was always distinguished among the police for his intelligence and broad outlook.
Our deep condolences!

In the last two days, a "news" story appeared on TikTok about a whale spotted on Baku's seaside boulevard. The most "observant" users posted videos, commenting on the size of the animal. Later, other "witnesses" claimed it wasn't a whale, but a shark. Even later, a version emerged suggesting it was a submarine.
