Workers of the plant named after Tagiyev are victim of next construction fraud
On Thursday a group of hostel residents in Javanshir St., 38 held a press conference in connection with apartment fraud. According to human rights activist Alekper Mamedov, 180 families, 12 more displaced families are living without a warrant in this five-story dormitory belonging to the plant named after Zeynalabdin Tagiyev.
After the earthquake in 2000, the hostel is in the emergency state
and the residents appealed to the metropolitan municipality, which sent their appeal to the Cabinet of Ministers. Deputy Prime Minister Abid Sharifov instructed the Mayor Office to begin construction of a new home for these people, and in 2004, 40 acres of land for construction in the Sadygjan street.
On the recommendation of the Mayor Office, residents established an “Umid” cooperative, and construction began in 2008. Since May 2012 , two 18-storey buildings on the 432 apartments were put into operation. According to the documents, funding was provided by three companies, "Oguz", "Agora" and "Beta-Line."
After the fraud, these campaigns became the founders of the cooperative "Umid", what allowed them to solve the issuance of apartments. According to unofficial information, the head of International Bank Jahangir Hajiyev is behind all three companies. But residents say they still do not know the founders, or the heads of these companies. All processes are led by some surrogates.
In May of this year, 80 from 160 families received apartments in these buildings. The remaining 80 families, as well as 12 families of displaced people did not receive apartments. In this case, 80 apartments were put up for sale.
When 80 families turned to the company with request to give them the legal housing, they were told that everything had been sold.
During the construction of the residents were given blank papers which they signed. Subsequently, these papers were filled as a refusal from these flats on behalf of those people, with request to stay in a hostel.
According to residents, Abid Sharifov instructed the relevant structures to conduct repair works at the hostel. The other day a floor collapsed in a dormitory. Representatives of the Ministry of Emergency Situations arrived there, and made the inquiry, that the building is under the threat of collapse. However, the issue of relocation of 80 families had not been resolved.
For this reason, people are going to hold a rally in front of the Presidential Administration on September 4. -05C04-
