Nikol Pashinyan
Nikol Once Again Signs His Own Death Warrant
Baku / 19.10.20 / Turan: The head of the Armenian government Nikol Pashinyan stubbornly refuses the last chance, which can lead the country out of the catastrophic situation.
The principle that the leading countries of the world support and are ready to defend is territories in exchange for status. The reaction of the OSCE Minsk Group Co-Chairs and other international players to the war in Karabakh has shown that nothing else will be offered to Armenia. And the endless calls of Yerevan to recognize the independence of Karabakh and apply the principle of "secession for the sake of salvation" do not work.
Nikol Pashinyan stubbornly does not see all this, not only because of his political short-sightedness, but because of the moods prevailing in Armenian society.
Today, all of Armenia is one common Nikol Pashinyan, and there is no political force there that is ready to accept the above-mentioned principles of the settlement. He himself wrote about this on his Facebook page on October 18, stating that he rejects the return of the occupied territories in exchange for the "undefined status of Karabakh."
Even the seemingly balanced and reasonable President of the country, Armen Sarkisian, ruled out the possibility of joint residence of Armenians and Azerbaijanis in Karabakh in an interview with the Kommersant newspaper.
He also did not offer a way out of the situation, "threatening" that if Azerbaijan refuses to dialogue, then Armenia will recognize Karabakh.
The situation indicates that the Armenian elite has no recipes and options for a way out of the situation. The hopes for the support of the world community did not come true. The main hope of the Armenians is Russia, but they have not been really supported by this state, and at the front the Armenian army suffers daily defeats.
The only "tool" to support the fighting spirit is reports from the front about so-called "successful" counterattacks, "encirclement of the enemy" and "imminent victory." This is how Pashinyan himself describes it:
“Can a war resolve the status of Karabakh? Yes, if we achieve success in the war." And the last question: is it possible to achieve success in war? Yes, if we all concentrate our national potential around this task, we will sincerely fulfill this goal."
It is noteworthy that the opposition, which sharply criticized Pashinyan for his foreign policy mistakes, suddenly fell silent. The reason is that, with all the hatred towards Pashinyan, the attitude of the political forces of Armenia to the conflict is practically identical.
Nevertheless, a number of political parties, including influential Dashnaks and Republicans, called for the creation of an Operational Headquarters to coordinate political and military activities during the war. This is a kind of alternative government, whose mandate is not delineated. However, this proposal itself testifies to extremely negative processes and growing discontent with the government and the military.
Another interesting event is the meeting of the leader of the Dashnaks with the first President Levon Ter-Petrosyan. The meeting of the worst enemies can be explained by only one thing - the search for a way out of the situation. Judging by Pashinyan's latest statements, this solution has not yet been found. -02B-

On the eve of a large-scale flood approaching Baku, a disturbing incident occurred in the village of Buzovna, where a Lada Priora car fell into the ground, literally collapsing the road beneath it. The driver miraculously remained unharmed but vowed to seek justice, promising to file an official complaint with the prosecutor’s office against Azersu OJSC, the state-owned water supply and sewerage company, often associated with deeply rooted corruption.

In a bit of historic irony, powerful oligarch Bidzina Ivanishvili has managed to inspire rare unity across Georgia’s cacophonous political scene twice in his life. His money and influence forged the broad-based consolidation of opposition forces that brought him to power in 2012, and now, 12 years and three electoral cycles later, a similar pattern of opposition convergence could send him packing.
