Social Networks Win Parliamentary Elections
Such passions and shameful revelations as on February 9, 2020 have never been before.
Negativity for the upcoming elections appeared a few days before the elections day, when Facebook and Youtube were filled with videos for expelling pro-government deputies from meetings with voters. This happened in regions where the population still has not shown political activity in the form of citizen journalism. So the publication of political reports by ordinary citizens and local activists literally stirred up the public.
People were pleasantly surprised by the willingness of ordinary citizens to assert their rights and their courage to require deputies not to deceive them and resign.
The peak of the protests fell on the elections day, and on February 9 social networks literally exploded with scandalous shots from polling stations, where numerous frauds and falsifications, as well as violence against observers, were recorded live.
The authorities and the election system have not yet seen such a shame. Against this background, the mooing of the head of the CEC, Mazahir Panahov, only intensified the negative towards February 9 and the “new” composition of the parliament.
Be that as it may, the formation of a new phenomenon is evident - the activity of citizens at a new level, which can be called the "Revolution of social networks." This phenomenon will gain strength and its impact on public opinion will intensify.
At the same time, a new team of activists is being formed, which will work more actively and in an organized manner in elections and referenda, presenting a real threat to the traditional and mediocre policy of the authorities to falsify public opinion.
Separately, it is worth noting the so-called reform and rejuvenation of the parliament, which the authorities declared with such pathos, explaining the need for early elections. As it turned out, nothing has changed, and the political composition of the legislative body is preserved in its original form.
Against this background, statements by the authorities about the victory of democracy, free will and the rule of law will sound like a bad joke and will reinforce the negative attitude of the world democratic community towards Azerbaijan.

On the eve of a large-scale flood approaching Baku, a disturbing incident occurred in the village of Buzovna, where a Lada Priora car fell into the ground, literally collapsing the road beneath it. The driver miraculously remained unharmed but vowed to seek justice, promising to file an official complaint with the prosecutor’s office against Azersu OJSC, the state-owned water supply and sewerage company, often associated with deeply rooted corruption.

In a bit of historic irony, powerful oligarch Bidzina Ivanishvili has managed to inspire rare unity across Georgia’s cacophonous political scene twice in his life. His money and influence forged the broad-based consolidation of opposition forces that brought him to power in 2012, and now, 12 years and three electoral cycles later, a similar pattern of opposition convergence could send him packing.
